Inclusion Criteria
Diabetic patients presenting with hypoglycaemia:
- CBG < 4.0 mMols / L
- clinically suspected where CBG cannot be obtained (uncharacteristic behaviour, disorientation)
Pt must have a sufficiently high enough conscious level to avoid choking or aspiration

Exclusion Criteria
Reduced conscious level where the patient is unable to swallow / has an absent gag reflex - putting them at risk of choking / aspiration
AVPU = P or U

Cautions
Altered conscious state w/ risk of choking or aspiration
soaked gauze placed between lips and gums AVPU A or V only

Follow up advice
Pt should not drive or operate machinery for at least 1 hour
May wish to discuss diabtetic control with GP or specialist nurse
Pt may wish to carry glucose gel for emergencies

Clinical condition or situation in which PMA applies
Hypoglycaemia, especially in known diabetics, where blood glucose level <4.0 mmol or if hypoglycaemia is clinically suspected
