Inclusion Criteria

Answer 1

Diabetic patients presenting with hypoglycaemia:

• CBG < 4.0 mMols / L
• clinically suspected where CBG cannot be obtained (uncharacteristic behaviour, disorientation)

Pt must have a sufficiently high enough conscious level to avoid choking or aspiration

Exclusion Criteria

Reduced conscious level where the patient is unable to swallow / has an absent gag reflex - putting them at risk of choking / aspiration

Altered conscious state w/ risk of choking or aspiration

soaked gauze placed between lips and gums AVPU A or V only
