Liver Anatomy Flashcards
What is the bare area?
The are that doesnt have peritoneal covering
What are the four lobes of the liver?
- Right
- Left
- Caudate (Around SVC)
- Quadrate
What are the five ligaments of the liver?
- Falciform
- Teres
- Coronary
- Right Triangular
- Left Triangular
What does the biliary tree look like?
What are the ducts of the biliary tree?
- Right hepatic duct
- left hepatic duct
- common hepatic duct
- cystic duct
- common bile duct
- pancreatic duct (Main and accessory)
What is the flow from the celiac trunk?
How does the portal vein form?
What takes blood from the GI tract to the liver?
Portal Vein, formed at the hepatosplenic confluence
What is the portal field?
This is the collection of hepatic artery, portal vein and bile duct that comes into the liver and heads toward the central vein via the sinusoids
What is a sinusoid?
Fenestrated confluence that take blood to the hepatocytes and the central vein
What is the central vein?
This drains blood to the IVC
What do Kuppfer cells do?
They live in the sinusoids and are macrophages for immune defence
What do stellate cells do?
The live in the Space of Disse and try to repair the liver if there is fibrosis
Where is the Space of Disse and what lives there?
- This is the space between the sinusoids and hepatocytes
- Stellate cells
What does normal liver histology look like with the portal field and central vein
