I’m so hungry I could eat a horse
Verbal irony
(sarcasm) occurs when a speaker or narrator says one thing while meaning the opposite

It is easy to stop smoking. I’ve done it many times
Situational irony
When a situation turns out differently from one would normally expect though often if is oddly appropriate
Situational irony example
A deep sea diver drowning in a bathtub
Dramatic irony
When a character says something that has different meanings from what they think though the audience knows what’s up
Dramatic irony example
Oedipus curses the murderer of Laius, not realizing that he is himself the murderer and so is cursing himself
