Nicotinic Acid=Niacin

Inhibit VLDL secretion –> decrease LDL production
Increase HDL
decrease triglycerides
Toxicities: long term my increase insulin resistance, hyperuricemia cuz niancin competes with uric acid for excretion, prostaglandin mediated vasodilation –> blunt this with NSAIDs, liver issues
