Use
To deenergise low voltage electrical current supply to buildings by removing the service fuses from overhead power lines
Construction #1
Pole
- high density fibreglass laminate
- between 5-7 telescopic sections
- sections raise one at a time, from 1.5-10.5m
- sections are engaged with spring loaded pins that lock in place as it reaches its travel limit
Construction # 2
Head
- fixed at top of pole
- universal fitting for different adapters
- male threaded pig tail adapter
Safety (4)
- PPE gloves and helmet
- don’t reach HV lines
- falling parts / porcelain / fuses
- don’t use it if it’s wet
Operation 1. prepare link stick
- PPE
- identify fuse
- ensure pigtail secure
- check service dates
Operation 2. Extend link stick
- hold in front
- extend up, 1 section at a time, engaging locking pins
- stop 1 metre below fuse
Operation 3 Connect and extract fuse
- Engage the pigtail head with the base of fuse
- rotate clockwise
- pull 300mm down
Operation 4. Rehouse link stick
- engage locking pins 1 at a time
- remove fuse from pigtsil
- place at base of pole
Testing
Visual , into service, monthly , after use
- extend fully
- pole and threads are in good condition
- check test label in date
+ 6 monthly electrical authority test conducted
