when can we omit or include TO BE

A

after the following verbs: appear, turn out, seem, prove, look
BUT
to be is included before the adj. ; alive, alone, asleep, awake and after verbs ending with -ing
AND
we leave out to be when we give opinion of sth or sb: she appears a very nice person/ they turned out efficient workers

A

get difficult/ill/interested/pregnant/suspicious/worried/unhappy, in imperatives( don’t you get angry with me!), get changed/dressed/married
become - more formal, become recognised, adapted to, apparent, aware, convinced, infected, irrelevant, obvious

A
