A linkage is an assembly of parts used to direct force and movement where it is needed

the movement of the output will be equal to the movement of the input.Otherwise the movement will be different and the system will have some degree of mechanical advantage

A
A crank and slider can have a reciprocating input and rotary output (e.g internal Combustion engine)

describe how the peg and slot works
A
the slot pivoted at the top or the bottom. As the wheel rotates, the peg travels up and down in the slot, and causes the slot to swing.
