Trach suctioning pressure settings

A

Pressure setting for newborns and neonates: 60-80 mmHg

Pressure setting for infants and children up to 24 months: 80-100 mmHg

Pressure setting for children over 24 months and teens: 100-120 mmHg

Tracheostomy suctioning removes thick mucus and secretions from the trachea and lower airway that the client cannot clear by coughing.
Suctioning should be performed in the morning, before bed, and when needed.
