Limits Part Deux Flashcards
What is the N r range to avoid prolonged APU use and why?
94-96% because the APU clutch will oscillate from engaged to disengaged. This creates high loads.
When is APU operation prohibited?
During normal flight
What is the APU caution that should be observed after an aborted start or fault?
Wait 30 seconds after APU has stopped before attempting restart. After 2 consecutive start attempts, wait 20 minutes before third attempt. No more than 3 attempts an hour.
What shall be observed after 30 minutes of ground operation with the APU on?
Observe XMSN TEMP 1 & 2 on the SYS page. If exceeding 140C the APU shall be shut down to cool XMSN fluid for 30 min prior to resuming APU grnd ops, or fluid may be cooled by operating at least 1 engine with rotor turning.
Weight Limitations:
Max Gross Weight: 20,260lbs
Non-Tactical Ferry Weight: 23,000lbs
Max Autorotation Airspeed:
145 KTAS; above 145 KTAS, drag on MR can cause excessive Nr decay
Airspeed Limits: Max sideward and Rearward due to possible LTE
45 kts for all gross weights
Maximum Airspeed for searchlight extension:

Maximum Airspeed for stores jettisoned. (Only for emergencies in unaccelerated flight)
130 KTAS
What jettison speed range must side slip be minimized? If possible
Hover - 45 KTAS
What speed range must the ball be centered for stores jettison?
45 - 130 KTAS
External Fuel Tanks Jettison information:
Only authorized in an emergency
Every effort made to be in straight and level unaccelerated flight at airspeeds less than 100 KTAS
