Icing Conditions
definition
OAT (on ground and for takeoff) or TAT (in flight) is 10°C or below and:
- visible moisture in any form is present such as clouds, fog with visibility of 1 mile or less, rain, snow, sleet, and ice crystals, or
- when operating on ramps, taxiways or runways where surface snow, ice, standing water, or slush may be ingested by the engines or freeze on engines, nacelles or engine sensor probes.
FLEX
Reduced Thrust Takeoff
- Prohibited on contaminated runways
- Reduction must not exceed 25% of takeoff thrust.
- Ensure inop items do not affect performance
Contaminated Runway
1/8” > 25%
More than 1/8” of standing water, snow, or slush is present or when ice is covering more than 25% of runway.
One Engine Taxi (OET)
Prohibited if:
1. Contamination i.e.(frozen precip) on ramps and taxiways

2. Snow or freezing precipitation is falling.
-APU must be ON and generator available
Contamination:
Frozen precipitation
Any actual or potential adhering forms of frozen water.
Engine Anti-Ice
Must be on during all ground and flight operations, when icing conditions exist, or are anticipated; except during climb and cruise when the SAT is below -40°C.
