Limitations Flashcards
What is the approach category for the A319 and A320?
Category C
What is the approach category for the A321
Category D
What is the max crosswind, all aircraft, for takeoff?
35 knots
What is the max crosswind, all aircraft, for landing?
38 knots
What is the max tailwind for landing, all aircraft?
10 knots
What is the max tailwind for takeoff?
(319/320) - 15 Knots
(321) - 10 knots
What is the max tailwind for takeoff for the A321?
10 knots
What is the stabilized approach criteria?
Steady rate of descent not to exceed 1,200 FPM
On the correct lateral path (“Course”); (± one dot for ILS/LOC, 0.30 NM cross
track for RNAV, or 1/2 dot for VOR)*
On the correct vertical path (“Glidepath”); (± one dot)*
In the final landing configuration(Landing Gear and Flaps Extended)
Absent any GPWS Warnings and Cautions
Steady rate of descent not to exceed 1,000 FPM
Within -5 to +15 knots of target speed for approach
Max wind for passenger door operation?
65 knots
Max wind for cargo door operations?
40 knots/ 50 knots
1) If the aircraft nose is oriented into the wind, or if the cargo door is on the leeward side of the aircraft, operation of the cargo door is permitted in winds up to 50 knots. If wind speed begins to exceed these limitations, the cargo door must be closed before the wind speed exceeds 65 kts.
What is the recommended turbulent penetration speed BELOW FL 200?
A319/A320– 250 knots
A321– 270 knots
What is the recommended turbulent penetration speed FL200 to FL310?
A319/320– 275 knots
A321– 300 knots
What is the recommended turbulence penetration speed above FL310?
A319/320– .76 Mach
A321– .76 Mach
What is the max ground speed for the tires?
195 knots
What is the max windshield wiper operation speed?
230 knots
What is the max speed for cockpit window?
200 knots
What is the limitation for taxi speed on the A320/321?
Weight greater than 167,550 lbs, 20 knots during a turn.
What is the autopilot minimum engagement height?
After Takeoff (If SRS is indicated) 100 feet AGL Enroute 900 feet AGL RNAV VISUAL APPROACH 500 AGL Non-Precision Approaches DDA/DA Non-Autoland ILS with CAT 1 FMA 160 AGL Non-Autoland ILS with CAT 2/3 FMA 80 AGL GO-Around (If SRS is indicated) 100 AGL Autoland Approach ROLLOUT/Taxi Speed
When is auto land required?
Autoland is required below CAT I minimums.
Furthermore, to minimize the chances of a go around, Frontier’s policy is to set up and brief for an autoland IF the reported RVR/visibility is at or below 1/2 mile or 2400 RVR AND all of the requirements for an autoland can be met (environmental, aircraft approach capability, ground equipment, etc.), the approach will be briefed and flown as a CAT II or CAT III autoland.
What are the engine time limits for takeoff and go-around?
All engines operating- 5 minutes
1 engine inop- 10 minutes
What is the minimum engine oil temperature before takeoff?
19 C
What is the minimum engine oil quantity for the CEO?
9.5 qt + .5 qt per every hour of estimated flight time
What is the minimum engine oil quantity for the NEO?
- 0 qt + .5 qt per every hour of estimated flight time and not below 10.6 qt
1) For NEO aircraft, if the engines have shut down for more than 60 minutes, decrease the required quantities from above by 3 qt to account for oil thermal expansion.
When is takeoff with reduced thrust prohibited?
on slippery or contaminated runways;
when suspected, reported or known windshear is present (e.g., predictive windshear alerts, or ATC-issued windshear alerts for the departure runway or departure path);
when a Special Departure Procedure specifies full thrust for takeoff.
What is the max flaps/slats extended altitude?
20,000 feet MSL
