Q

how do stalactites and stalagmites form

A

water slowly drips from the cave roof and deposits calcium carbonate on the cave roof and floor

  • stalagmites grow on the floor upwards as drips come of stalactites
  • stalactites grow downwards (remembered because tights fall)
  • connect to form a pillar
