how do stalactites and stalagmites form
A
water slowly drips from the cave roof and deposits calcium carbonate on the cave roof and floor
- stalagmites grow on the floor upwards as drips come of stalactites
- stalactites grow downwards (remembered because tights fall)
- connect to form a pillar
