Lighting Flashcards
What happens when you press and hold the ANN LIGHTS test switch on the SYSTEM TEST panel?
All lights and digital readouts illuminate in the cockpit except for fire handles, fuel switch lights, PASSENGER OXYGEN ON light, EMER & MIC selections on ACP’s, and red light on ELT switch panel. In addition, the Cabin Pressure Indicating panel indicates all 8’s and the cabin rate of climb pointer rotates counterclockwise to 6000 fpm down.
What happens when the MASTER CONTROL knob on the COCKPIT LIGHTS panel is rotated clockwise from OFF to the small tick mark?
The aircraft is configured for night flying: as the knob is rotated from OFF to nighttime setting, annunciator lights dim and panel backlighting illuminates.
What happens when the MASTER CONTROL knob is rotated clockwise to ORIDE?
Full clockwise rotation brings all annunciator lights to full bright and further rotation to ORIDE illuminates the cockpit overhead dome light and side console floodlights.
What’s the purpose of the VEST LTS ORIDE switch on the side console panel?
Used as an alternate means for turning off the vestibule or companionway lights for aircrew convenience. When selected, blue ON is displayed inside switchlight, and the vestibule lights extinguish if they’re illuminated.
How many flashlights are in the cockpit?
Two: one (1) for the captain and one (1) for the copilot
When do the No Smoking indicator signs in the cabin come on automatically?
When passenger masks are deployed either manually or automatically
Describe the function of the RAMP light switch in the baggage compartment.
It illuminates the pylon lights for loading bags and possibly for maintenance related activities: one light shines out from under each pylon.
Do the utility lights in the tail compartment need to be turned OFF prior to exiting the compartment?
No, they extinguish when the tail compartment door is closed unless the switch in the baggage compartment is also selected to ON.
What’s the purpose of the beacon / recognition light?
When illuminated, it alerts outside observers that something is powered. During flight, it functions as a warning and recognition light.
How many strobe lights are on the G650?
There are three (3) LED strobe light assemblies: one (1) light assembly is installed in the aft portion of the tailcone and one (1) in each wing tip.
Describe navigation light location.
They’re located on each wing-tip (green on the right and red on the left) and one in the aft tailcone fairing (white).
How would you know if a nav or strobe has failed?
A fault indicator light is integrated into each assembly and provides indication of an LED failure. For a single LED failure, the light illuminates a solid amber color which indicates that servicing is required. For multiple LED failures, the light flashes and clearly alerts ground crews that the aircraft cannot be dispatched.
What are logo lights?
They’re mounted on underside of left and right horizontal stabilizer and illuminate the aircraft logo on the vertical stabilizer.
Describe the landing lights on the G650.
They’re fixed aim, one on each side, mounted in a light tunnel. They’re high intensity discharge lamps: not LED.
When is use of landing lights recommended?
Strongly encouraged for takeoff and landing and during any operations below 10,000’ or within ten NM of airport.
