Light shadows and reflections Flashcards
What are transparent objects?
materials that allow all light to pass through and reflect very little light.
What are opaque objects?
materials that block observe or let light.
What are Translucent objects?
Tereus that do not pass all the light but reflect absorb or scatter some light.
What are luminous objects?
Objects that do not produce light on their own.
What are non-luminous objects?
Check that do not produce light on their own.
What is a ray?
A narrow straight line of light.
What is a beam?
Release travelling together in an organised manner.
What is rectilinear propagation of light?
The property of rays of light to always travel in a straight line.
what is reflection?
The bouncing or returning back of all or a part of light when it meets a surface.
It is laterally inverted?
When the left side of an object appears as the right side of the image and vice versa.
What is diffuse the reflection?
The type of reflection in which the incident rays fall on a rough surface and reflected at different angles and resulting the image is not sharp.
What is a shadow?
A dark shape that is formed on the surface when an object blocks a source of light.
When does a solar Eclips occur?
When the sun moon and earth are in a straight line and the moon is in the middle the shadow of the moon falls on the earth and blocks the sun in the parts of the earth on which the shadow falls the sun cannot be seen and we call this a solar eclipse solar eclipse occurs on a new moon day.
What is a lunar eclipse?
When the sun and the moon come in a straight line and the earth is in the middle the shadow of the earth falls on the moon this is called a loner eclipse and it occurs on a full moon day.
What do you understand by rectilinear propagation of light?
The property of the rays of light to always travels in a straight line.
