Changes Around us Flashcards
What are natural changes?
Changes that occur naturally on their own such as changing of day into night and a growth of baby or natural changes.
What are man made changes?
Changes that by humans such as cooking of food and boiling of Water or man-made changes.
What permanent changes?
Changes that are long-lasting such as rusting of iron and burning of paper are permanent changes.
What are temporary changes?
Changes that a short live such as the melting of ice and folding of paper are temporary changes.
What is fast changes?
Changes that occur quickly in a short time such as burning of matchstick and bursting of balloons are fast changes.
What a slow changes?
A change that occurs slowly over a long period of time such as growth of nails and rusting of iron or slow changes.
What is desirable changes?
Changes that we want to take place or desire such as the ripening of fruits and growth of a plant are desirable changes.
What are non-desirable changes?
Changes that we do not want to take place as there is no use to us such as rusting of iron and rotting of fruits or undesirable changes.
What are periodic changes?
Changes that occur at regular intervals of time such as occurrence of day and night are periodic changes.
Non-periodic changes?
Change is that do not occur at regular interval of time such as the occurrence of earthquakes and floods or non-periodic changes.
What are reversible changes?
When I change can be reversed it is called reversible changes.
Example: folding of paper And melting of ice.
What are irreversible changes?
When I change cannot be reversed it is called it is a irreversible changes.
Example: burning of paper and rusting of iron.
What are physical changes?
A change in which no new substance is formed is called a physical change.
What are Chemical changes?
When a new substance processing of different properties Is formed after I change it is called a chemical change.
Name four types of changes?
Physical change, chemical change, periodic change, non-periodic change, permanent change, temporary change, slow change and fast change and etc.
How is the metal rim fixed on a wooden cart wheel?
This is done using the properties of expansion and contraction of metals. The metallic rim is slightly smaller in the diameter than the wooden wheel. On heating the rim expands and easily slides over the wheel. On cooling it contracts and fits tightly onto the wheel.
Explain the process of fixing wooden handles in agriculture tools.
Mattocks have a metal ring into which the wooden handles are attached
firmly. When the metal ring is heated it expands and its size increases this allows for inserting the handle enter the ring on cooling the metal ring contracts and holds the handle firmly.
Can you bring burnt paper back into its original form? Why?
No because one paper is a is Irreversible change which cannot be turned back into paper it will turn into ashes.
Making of ice is a reversible change. Why?
Yes because when ice is melted it turns into water when we freeze water again it turns into ice so melting of ice is a reversible change.
What type of change occurs when a matchstick is lighted?
It is a fast change.
What is the difference between a reversible and irreversible changes?
Reversible change is when do something can be reversed for example when I smell is in the water when we freeze water again it becomes ice so itis reversible change. Irreversible changes is when something cannot be turned back to its normal state like burning of paper when paper is burned it becomes ashes. Ashes can’t bring back to paper.
What is the difference between periodic and non-periodic changes?
Periodic change is a change that occurs during a specific and regular interval of time where as non-periodic change is a change that does not occur repeatedly in a regular interval of time.
What is the difference between physical and chemical changes?
Physical change is a change in which no new substance is formed where is chemical change is a change in which new substance possessing different properties is formed.
