Electricity and circuits Flashcards
What is electric current?
A form of electrical energy which can be changed to other forms of energy such as light energy and sound energy.
What are thermal power plant?
The power plants that we use fossil fuels such as coal gas and diesel to make electricity.
What is hydroelectric power plants?
The power plants that we use the power of water falling from a dam on the river which turns a turbine connected to an electric generator.
What is primary cell?
Non-rechargeable cells which can be used only once until it discharges.
What is secondary cell?
Rechargeable cells which can be charged by attaching it to a source of electricity.
What is Dry cell?
The type of cell that contains a paste inside instead of a liquid making it suitable to carry around.
What is a depolarizar?
How can we can’t use in a dry cell that does not allow hydrogen bubbles to collect on the zinc and slow down the reaction.
What is filament?
A thin wire inside a ball that glows when electricity is passed through it.
What is this circuit?
Close or continuous part through which electricity can flow.
Why is solar power becoming so important?
Solar power plants are being increasingly used in India specially for agriculture And villages.India has almost 300 sunshine days in a year and energy from the sun is free.
What is the source of electricity?
The source way not be power Station(Access to an electrical socket by means of a plug)A storage battery or sell.
what is a conductor?
conductors allow electricity to pass through them.
What is the electrical device?
This uses electricity and charges it into another form of energy such as light heat sound and electrical.
What is the electrical switch?
This is the part of a Circuit which when open or close can make or break the path of current it allows us to control the flow of electricity.
What are insulators?
Materials that do not allow current to pass through them
