Light intensity effect photosynthesis required practical Flashcards
1
Q
Method for light intensity effect rate of photosynthesis
A
Oxygen Production - Method
- light source is placed at a specific distance from the pondweed
- The pondweed is left to photosynthesise for a set amount of time. As it photosynthesises, the oxygen released will collect in a capillary tube
- At the end of the experiment, the syringe is used to draw the gas bubble in the tube up alongside a ruler & the length of the gas bubble is measured. This is proportional to the volume of O2 produced
- repeat with the light source at different distances from the pondweed
2
Q
How could you control the temperature of the experiment?
A
Water bath
3
Q
How can you ensure data is reliable?
A
Repeat the experiment. Remove outliers and calculate a mean.
4
Q
How does oxygen given off show increased rate of photosynthesis
A
Oxygen is product of photosynthesis
More oxygen increased rate of photosynthesis
