Light and waves Flashcards
quantum theory
what are electromagnetic waves made up of?
Perpendicular oscillating electric and magnetic fields, produced by an oscillating electric charge
what is young’s double split experiment?
Young’s double-slit experiment demonstrates the wave nature of light and particles. When light or particles pass through two closely spaced slits, they create an interference pattern of alternating bright and dark fringes on a screen, indicative of wave interference. This pattern occurs because the waves emerging from the slits overlap and interfere constructively and destructively. The experiment also reveals that even single particles, when not observed, create an interference pattern, suggesting that they exhibit wave-like behavior and can exist in a superposition of states.
