Circular Motion Flashcards
what is centripetal acceleration?
the acceleration towards the centre of motion
what is centripetal force?
a resultant force directed towards the axis of rotation, which results in uniform motion
NOTE: Centripetal force is the resultant force created from other sources
what is centrifugal force?
the centrifugal sport is the apparent force (outward pulling force)
Ways circular motion can be applied
1) outside a circle
2) Inside a circle
3) tension questions
4) Banked track question
what is Kepler’s first law?
each planet orbits the sun around an ellipse
What is Kepler’s Second Law?
imaginary line joining a planet and sun sweeps out across equal areas of space and time intervals.
What is Keplers Third Law?
the orbital period of a planet, squared, is directly proportional to the period of its orbit, cubed.
