Light And Sound Flashcards
Refraction
The bending of light rays when they slow down while passing through a different medium.
Plane mirror
A mirror that has a flat base and gives a perfect reflection.
Cornea
The lens covering the inside of your eye so that you can’t put your finger through it.
Oscillation
When a transverse wave goes in a curved line
Speed of sound
This can vary with each medium although it is 330 m/s through air.
Specular reflection
When all the light is directed in the same direction off a surface.
Lens
You can have lots of different lens’s depending on what your eyesight is like but if you are long sighted you have concave lens but if your shortsighted you have a convex lens.
Pitch
When a sound is made it can be a high pitch or a low pitch.
Audible range
The human ears audible rage is 20 herts to 200 herts
Diffuse scattering
This is when a light doesn’t go straight when it gets reflected but it goes all over the place like when you look at yourself n the back of your spoon.
Retina
This is the back part of your eye where what you can see is formed.
Amplitude
The distance from the middle of the wave to the top of the wave.
Vacuum
This sucks air out of something.
Convex lens
This is a lens that can make you long sighted or fix your eyes if your short sighted.
Frequency
This amount of times you get a wave in a certain period of time.
