Movement Respiration Sensitivity Growth Reproduction Excretion Nutrition
Nucleus
Controls what is going on inside the cell
Cell membrane
A protective barrier around the cell. It controls what goes in and out.
Cytoplasm
A ‘jelly-like’ substance that where chemical reactions take place.
Mitochondria
This is the part in the cell where respiration happens
Cell wall
An extra protective barrier around the cell and this also provides support for the cell if needed.
Vacuole
Contains a substance called cell sap. This helps to keep the cell firm and healthy.
Chloroplasts
This is where photosynthesis happens. That is when this area in the cell traps energy from the sun
Eyepiece lens
What you look through when using a microscope
Objective lens
This is the second lens that you look through when looking through the microscope and this is the lens in front of what you are looking at
Stage
This is what you place the objective on when observing
Microscope
What you use when you need to see something really close up. It is way more powerful than a magnifying glass of binoculars.
Light
When using a microscope you have a light that you have to use so the image of what you are looking at is clearer.
Coarse focus
This is to help focus on the image if the lens isn’t doing so. However it won’t help much
Fine focus
This will help to focus on the objective perfectly if it isn’t already.
