Ligaments of shoulder Flashcards
Sternoclavicular joint
Costoclavicular ligament- (up/med movements sternal end)
Ant/Post sternoclavicular ligament- (up/lat/downward displacement)
Interclavicular ligament- (lateral displacement)
Sternoclavicular joint: Innervation
Branches medial (ant) supraclavicular nerve and nerve to subclavius
Acromioclavicular joint: Ligaments
Coracoclavicular ligament
Conoid ligament (med/post coracoid) forward
Trapezoid ligament (lat/ant) backward
Acromioclavicular ligament
Coracoacromial ligament
Shoulder seperation
AC seperation/dislocation
Severe= tear coracoclavicular
Blunt force to tip shoulder/acromion drive infer/med (shearing)
Acromioclavicular joint: Innervation
Branches suprascapular, pectoral, axillary nerves
Glenohumeral joint: Ligaments
Coracohumeral ligament
Transverse Humeral ligament- help prevent bowstringing of biceps brachii on flexion
Sup/Mid/Inf Glenohumeral ligament
Fibrous capule thickened anteriorly- pleats when ext rotate and up/down rotate
Shoulder dislocation
Sprain of ligaments around glenohumeral joint
Usually anterior dislocation
Abduction and external rotation of arm
