What period is known as the Middle Ages

What is the feudal system/feudalism
Feudalism was the system of land ownership where rulers divided land among their followers in return for loyalty and taxes.
Vassals
were lords or nobles who were loyal to the king.
Fief
The piece of land gives by the king to rich lords and nobles
Peasants
Worked on the land for the nobles and knights
Oath of fealty
A vassals promise of faithful service to the lord
What were the 3 main types of soldiers in the Norman army

What were the steps for a man to become a knight
1. (Page) at the age of 7 a boy would be sent to live with the family of anther lord and learn how to ride a horse, use a sword and sing or dance
2. (Squire) Aged 14, the boy began learning to fight on horseback. He would accompany the lord into battle, look after his horse and weapons and help the lord dress for battle and tournaments.
3. (Knight) aged 21 the man is now eligible to become a knight he took part in the ceremony of dubbing and he swore the oath of chivalry.

To stay loyal to his lord, protect the poor and weak and be brave in battle
