What role does classical liberalism put forward for the state
Minimal and limited gov where they have little power with checks to stop gov from being too powerful

What role does modern liberalism put forward for the state
An interventionist government which intervenes heavily in the economy and society in order to redistribute wealth from rich to poor via heavy taxation . Provides a safety net for the poorest in society
What is the key difference between positive and negative freedom
Positive freedom is to be frrr to not only have no constraints in what u csn do but also to have the opportunitys and resources to make choices anf achieve your potential thid therefore justifird gov intervention as apposed to discouraging it.
Negative freedom suggests however that to be free is to have no constraints or laws in place to limit what you can do
