Grounds for Disciplinary Action Against Optometrists (Administrative Case)
a) Unprofessional and unethical conduct
b) Malpractice
c) Violation of any of the provisions of R.A. 8050
d) Violation of the rules and regulations promulgated by the Board
e) Conviction in a final judgment of a crime involving moral turpitude
f) Immoral and dishonorable conduct
g) Unauthorized practice of optometry as defined in Section 5 of R.A. 8050
h) Committing any of the acts declared as prohibited under Section 32 of R.A. 8050
Criminal Liabilities Incidental to the Practice of Optometry
- Malicious negligence in the practice
- Employment of persons who are not duly authorized to do the work which under the law can be done only by persons who have certificates to practice optometry
- Employment of deceit or any other fraud with the public in general or some client in particular for the purpose of extending his clientele
- Making false advertisements
- Publishing or circulating exaggerated, fraudulent or deceitful allegations regarding his professional attainments, skill or knowledge, or the methods or techniques employed by him.
- Issuance of False Certificates
- Defamation
