Q

Chemical Level (first)

A

Atoms combine to form molecules. The atomic components and unit 3-D shape of molecule determine function.

EX: Protein molecules form filaments that produce the contractions of muscle cells in the heart.

Tissue Level (third)

A

A tissue is a group of cells working together to perform one or more specific functions.

EX: Cardiac muscle cells interact with other types of cells and with materials outside the cell to form cardiac muscle tissue.
