Level 4 Flashcards
How do you find the dimensions of an object?
Look at the N menu.
How do you change the aspect ratio of the rendering?
Output properties > dimensions.
How do you change the focal length of the camera?
Camera pane > focal length.
What’s an easy way to pan the camera?
Press R when looking through the the camera (need to hit G first?)
In the shading compositor, how do you change the scale of an image texture?
Control + T.
Two new nodes will appear, one of which has scale settings.
(This is thanks to the node wrangler addon).
What has he noticed is the difference between mediocre digital art and the good stuff?
The good stuff is created using tonnes of tryouts, to find out what looks good. (Kitbashing). If you watch work process videos that’s what they do.
(I think there might be a gap in the market here for properly design processed digital design…)
What do you put in between the wall normal texture and the principled node?
A normal map. (Converts colour to normal values).
Colour > colour
Normal > normal
Also need to change the colour space on the image texture node to non-colour data.
How come you can change the colour of the wall by changing the base colour?
Cos the texture is only applying normal data, not colour data. That’s free to be manipulated.
What’s a quick way to savage something to double size?
Press S and then press 2
Where do you connect the image texture node for the marble texture, and what’s the other thing you want to change?
Colour > base colour
Roughness to 0
How do you change more than one value at once?
Drag down from the top one over all the values.
What subsurf values do you use for marble?
0.1, and then 0.18 x 3
What’s something you should remember when creating a scene?
There are always going to be things to tweak at the end. Eg maybe you thought the doughnut bread part was perfect, but once your scene is assembled you realise it’s actually slightly off.
What’s the IOR and what are the values for glass and liquid? 3/3/2:00
Index of refraction.
Glass:1.45
Liquid: 1.33 (boiled water 1.31)
What’s an extra thing you can do t the top of the glass?
Dog it up - increase the roughness a little.
