Q

What has he noticed is the difference between mediocre digital art and the good stuff?

A

The good stuff is created using tonnes of tryouts, to find out what looks good. (Kitbashing). If you watch work process videos that’s what they do.

(I think there might be a gap in the market here for properly design processed digital design…)

What do you put in between the wall normal texture and the principled node?

A

A normal map. (Converts colour to normal values).

Also need to change the colour space on the image texture node to non-colour data.

Q

How come you can change the colour of the wall by changing the base colour?

A

Cos the texture is only applying normal data, not colour data. That’s free to be manipulated.

Q

What’s something you should remember when creating a scene?

A

There are always going to be things to tweak at the end. Eg maybe you thought the doughnut bread part was perfect, but once your scene is assembled you realise it’s actually slightly off.

How do you edit both the code and the cup at the same time?

A

Select the coffee, then the cup, simply with shift. Then you can edit both at the same time.

17
Q

If you’re pressing control and scaling something but it’s not doing it incrementally as you were hoping, what’s the problem?

A

Your ‘snap-to’ tool isn’t set to ‘increment’, it’s set to something else.

18
Q

when you’re repositioning an object in the scene, how would you get it to snap to various faces?

A

set snap to = face and hold down control while you’re moving it around.

19
Q

What’s environment lighting and how do you change it?

A

It’s the ambient light. This would always occur even in a studio setting - where you’d have light bouncing off walls from the studio lighting.

world properties > colour and strength.
For example, and overcast day would be way up. If there was another pink wall out of sight, it would have a slightly pink cast.
