What are some of the risks with market testing?
- Budget cost advice only so suppliers cannot be held to the rates provided
- May be overly competitive to get their foot in the door
- Based on limited design / time frame
- They may not fully understand the scope or the project abnormal
What Pricing Documents are you aware of?
Schedule of works – doesn’t have quantities (contractors responsible for quantifying)
Schedule of rates – list of rates the contractor will use for pricing cost reimbursable dayworks
CSA – D&B contracts split elementally
BoQ – Used in traditional works generally prepared by client QS with a detailed break down all items of works
What risk allowances were included in your PTE?

Construction
Included as a line item at 10%
What is a PTE?
QS last estimate using design info that the contractors will use to give the client an indication of what the cost of the works will be
