Level 1: Lesson 12 Flashcards
Do you know where the big one is?
Sabes donde esta el grande?
You are
(Tu) estas - A reminder that the subject pronouns yo, tu, etc. are not usually required in Spanish as the verb form identifies the reason. They are generally only used in cases where extra clarity or emphasis is required.
Where are you?
Donde estas?
I know where you are.
Se donde estas.
Can I know where you are now?
Puedo saber donde estas ahora? Note- A common mistake is to say Puedo se…? This would mean Can I I know?, clearly nonsensical. I belongs to can, and teh second verb, know, is infinitive even though to is not used after can in English. Can I = Puedo. (To) know = saber. Where you are = donde estas?
