Define New Thought.
New Thought is a term used to cover a wide range of approaches to God, the world, to life and its seeming problems.
What are the four phases of New Thought?
Philosophical, Theological, Psychological, Practical
Define Philosphical.
The fundamental study of knowledge, reality, and existence.
What is UFBL’s philosophical approach?
Idealism. UFBL believes that Reality is in the Idea; and that all things begin as an Idea; and that ideas are permanent and can never be depleted.
Define Theological.
The study of the nature of God.
What is UFBL’s theological approach?
Mysticism. UFBL believes that everyone has a unique and direct connection to the Divine, needing no mediator
Define Psychological.
The study of the human mind and behavior.
What is UFBL’s psychological approach?
Pragmatism. UFBL believes you are only held to believe what you can prove in your life, world, and affairs. UFBL believes that an idea is pragmatic only when it becomes true for you.
What is Practical?
Capable of being used in our everyday lives. This phase ties in all elements of New Thought. This is the action phase where Truth becomes demonstrable and when New Thought becomes a science that can be applied and replicated.
New Thought is:
- The Christ-Thought made new by being applied and proved in everyday affairs;
- The recognition, realization, and manifestation of God in humankind;
- Humankind as an expanding idea in the Mind of God, functioning under and operating through the Law of Mind Action.
What is the primary cause of suffering?
The primary cause of suffering is forgetfulness of our divine nature as an offspring of God and as a spiritual being.
We have forgotten that as spiritual beings, we have dominion over our thoughts and feelings.
What have we forgotten?
We have forgotten that it is not God’s will for us to suffer. Suffering does not turn us to God. Our desire to be free from suffering turns us to God.
What does it mean to be an heir to God?
An heir receives or is entitled to receive any endowment or quality from a parent predecessor. To be an heir to God means to be an offspring of God. To have attained a consciousness of our true relationship with God.
To what are we heirs?
- All the spiritual qualities, attributes, or ideas of God.
- The entire nature of God.
What are our responsibilities as offspring of God?
