How can we become righteous?
Through the cross our sin is paid for and a way is made for us to be reunited to God. Justification then comes as a result if our repentance and faith.
What happens to our sins when we are justified?
Sin on our account is put on Christ’s account and the righteousness of God on Christ’s account is transferred to our account.
What is the difference between conviction and condemnation?
Conviction offers hope, is specific, promotes positive motivation to change, and restores and reconciles to God.
Condemnation offers no hope, is general, promotes despair, leads to damnation, and separates you from God.
How should you respond when Satan attempts to condemn you?
Remind yourself of the forgiveness you already have received.
How does justification and a correct understanding of it benefit our relationship with The Lord?
It frees us to grow in our personal relationship with God.
What is regeneration?
The divine act which imparts to the repentant believer the new and higher life in personal union with Christ.
How does regeneration relate to “birth”?
We are born in sin, a seed is involved, blood is involved, water is involved, breath is involved, and the will of God is involved.
How does regeneration relate to “cleansing”?
We receive a cleansing so we can live a new life.
How does regeneration relate to “resurrection”?
We rise to walk in newness of life.
How does regeneration relate to “renewal”?
Before, we had fallen from the image of God. With the new birth, that image begins to be restored.
How does regeneration relate to our “relationship” with The Lord.
Before we were enemies of God and separated from Him but now we are born again and come into spiritual with God.
How does the idea o “adoption” relate to the ancient Roman custom?
It relates to the ancient custom of celebrating the coming of age of a son on “the day of the son’s adoption” when he was given the privileges and responsibility.
How is adoption the goal of our salvation?
We have been saved but we are still being saved, leading to the day of our adoption.
How can the idea of adoption affect our attitude toward our Heavenly Father?
The proper attitude of the children of God is the seek the instruction and discipline of the Father so that maturity can develop.
How does this contrast to the attitude of the “prodigal son”?
The attitude of the prodigal son seeks the inheritance without maturity.
