Lesson 9 Flashcards
What is the formula for predicting square trinomials?
If the factors are positive: A^2 + 2AB + B^2
If the factors are negative: A^2 - 2AB + B^2
What is the formula for predicting cube binomials?
If the factors are positive: A^3 + 3BA^2 + 3AB^2 + B^3
If the factors are negative: A^3 - 3BA^2 + 3AB^2 - B^3
In pascals triangle, how do you find how many terms there will be in a binomial?
Add one to whatever power the factor is being raised to and that will be the number of terms.
In Pascals triangle, how do you find the coefficients of the binomial?
You look at the line above and add the number directly above to the right and left, and that will be the coefficient of that term in the polynomial.
In Pascals triangle, how do you find the exponents of the binomial?
In the first term A will be raised to the same power the factor is being raised to, and in each subsequent term the exponent will be one less until it is zero. The same is true for B, except it ends at the same power that the factors are being raised to.
