- AUTHORITARIAN LEADERSHIP (Survival)
- PARTICIPATIVE OR DEMOCRATIC
- DELEGATIVE OR FREE REIN(LAISSEZ-FAIRE)
These leaders use their authority to impose the ways of working and often make decisions without consulting their team or followers.
AUTHORITARIAN LEADERSHIP (Survival)
This can work in organizations where input from followers needs to be minimal and where their motivation to ‘follow’ is not affected by not being involved in the decision
AUTHORITARIAN LEADERSHIP (Survival)
- leader makes decision and announces it
- leader presents decision but “sells it to the members“
- leader presents a decision and invites questions for clarification
AUTHORITARIAN LEADERSHIP (Survival)
These leaders usually involve their followers in the decision-making process
PARTICIPATIVE OR DEMOCRATIC
They tend to encourage participation from the team and delegate authority to team members. This style of leadership is important when team agreement matters.
PARTICIPATIVE OR DEMOCRATIC
- leader presents a tentative decision subject to change
- leader presents situation, gets input, makes decision
- leader calls on members to make decision, but holds the veto power
PARTICIPATIVE OR DEMOCRATIC
These leaders give followers full freedom to make most decisions and to perform work in the manner that is most convenient for them. This type of leadership works when the team is highly motivated and capable.
DELEGATIVE OR FREE REIN
(LAISSEZ-FAIRE)
leader calls on members to identify limits, explore possibilities, and make decisions

Share their vision
Building your credibility as a leader is to be a good example to your team members.

A good leader has a good judgment of right and wrong and are respected for being genuine, principled, ethical and consistent.
Demonstrate integrity
The ability to communicate clearly, concisely and tactfully is a crucial leadership skill.
