(30 cards)
the endocrine system consists of a series of glands which do what
they all secrete hormones
hormones are what
small chemical molecules that are passed into the blood and then spread throughout the body in the bloodstream
the pituitary gland is sometimes called what

different hormones
some of the hormones produced by the pituitary gland do what
some tell the body what to do
some tell other glands to release their hormones
the pituitary gland is not actually part of the brain but it is what
attached to the brain
in our neck we have which gland
the thyroid gland
the thyroid gland produces which hormone
thyroxine
thyroxine does what
regulates the rate of our metabolism
thyroxine also places an important role in what
growth and development
if the pituitary gland detects low levels of thyroxine then it will release what
thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)
the TSH does what
stimulates the thyroid to produce more thyroxine
the TSH brings the level of thyroxine where
back to normal
the process of TSH is essentially what
negative feedback
sitting on top of our kidneys, we have what
adrenal glands
adrenal glands produce what
adrenaline
adrenaline is normally released during what

insulin
insulin helps us regulate what
our blood glucose concentrations

the testes are only found in who
males
testes produce which hormone
testosterone
