When is the -t or -(‘)t accusative ending used?
When the word ends in a vowel.
If the vowel is unaccented A, E, O or U, add the accent.
- Many words ending in r, n, or s sounds (s, sz) also use -t.
When is the -ot accusative ending used?
When the word has any mély (deep) vowels: a, á, o, ó, u, ú
AND it ends in a consonant
When is the -at accusative ending used?
When the world has mély (deep) vowels, but is… short?
Ex: Vaj becomes vajat
Hal becomes halat
When is the -et accusative ending used?
When the word has only magas (high) vowels: e, é, ö, ő, ú, ű
ex: tej becomes tejet
When is the -öt accusative ending used?
When the word’s last vowel is ö or ü.
