lesson 6 Flashcards
1
Q
refers to the height of the lead strips
divided by the
A
GRID RATIO
2
Q
formula 1
A
GR = h/D
h= height
D= thickness
3
Q
refers to the number of grid strips or grid lines per inch or per centimeter.
A
GRID FREQUENCY
4
Q
formula 2
A
GF = 10,000 µm/cm /
(T + D) µm/line pair
T= lead strips thickness
D = interspace thickness
5
Q
Advantages of Moving Grids:
A
- No grid lines ( motion blurs out lead strip shadows)
- Reduces secondary or scatter radiation
- Radiographic contrast is improved
6
Q
Disadvantages of Grid:
A
- Vibration potential cause by moving grid. 2. Limit minimum exposure time
- Increases patient dose
- Lateral decentering from motion
- Up to 20% loss of primary radiation
- Stationary grid makes interspace gaps darker for
same amount of radiation - Increased OID, more geometric unsharpness
- Misalignment of grid and image receptor
- Can cause underexposure
- Mechanical problems
- Expensive
