Lesson 5.2 - Electronic Spreadsheet Flashcards
There are different charts that an electronic spreadsheet could present
data. To name a few, pie charts, graphs and clustered columns. These
charts add visualizations and extra emphasis to business reports and
marketing materials. Figure 13 shows a chart for presenting monthly
sales report.
Build great charts
With the help of conditional formatting, you can display related data,
you can compare values using different colors, bolds and italics. You
can also find the duplicates and differentiate between columns. Figure
14 shows a sample inventory list where the conditional formatting is
applied.
Use conditional formatting
Electronic spreadsheet is a good tool to present forecasts and trends in
the form of graphs or charts. Average lines give emphasis and will
explicitly detail key trends that emerge based on the information
generated. Figure 15 presents a sample presentation report about
trends in marketing sales.
Help identify trends
Spreadsheet is a good tool to bring information together. For example,
using MS Excel, you can create a single location for your different files
and documents by adding them into different worksheets in a single
spreadsheet document. Objects can also be added into the file using
the Insert Tab feature. It is even possible to import images and text into
your document.
Bring data together
With the use of the Internet, it is possible to access spreadsheet on your
mobile phones or web-enabled laptop or PC. You can even add
collaborators for your document like how Google Spreadsheet is used
for online collaboration.
Online Acess
Lasty, with the different features of a spreadsheet, this is a good tool
even for problem solving and decision support. The simplest example
for this feature is the use of Pivot table in MS Excel.

is the term to refer to a single spreadsheet document. A
____ contains different worksheets.
Workbook
refers to an individual sheet that can be contained in a

Examples of these ____are Home, Insert, and Help.
Ribbons
refers to a single box within the worksheet. Since a worksheet is
like one big table that is made up or columns and rows, a ____ is the
intersection of the column and row

This means that the active cell is currently in Column A, Row 1 or
Column AB row 21. Figure 16 shows where the ____ is located

This is where the contents of the
active cell or the current cell are shown.
Formula bar
are the built-in formulas in an electronic spreadsheet to
perform commonly used mathematical calculations. Instead of taking
the sum of all the numbers then divide with the number of items, you
can just use the AVERAGE() function. Some of the common functions
are SUM( ), AVERAGE(), COUNTIF(), and LOOKUP().
