What is Mendel’s law of Independence?
Alleles segregate separately from each other and don’t influence each other.
What is Mendel’s law of segregation?
Allele pairs segregate/separate randomly.
Remember meiosis, as chromosomes align at the metaphase plate RANDOMLY
What is a punnet square?
Punnet squares are a way of estimating and graphing the probabilities of crossing 2 traits.
What does homozygous mean?
Two identical alleles in a gene.
Eg. aa, AA, GG, gg
What does heterozygous mean?
Two different alleles in a gene.
Eg. Aa, Bb
The dominant allele usually comes first, (for formatting)
What does monohybrid cross mean?
Crossing One trait
What does dihibrid cross mean
Crossing 2 unrelated traits
Eg. height and hair colour
