Lesson 5: Evaluate reliability and validity Flashcards
Understand three types of reliability 1.split half reliability 2.test retest reliability 3.alternate form reliability Understand three categories of validity 1. Content validity 2. Criterion related validity 3. Construct validity Interpret info on the reliability and validity of a questionnaire Correlation coefficient Reliability Validity
What is the reliability of a questionnaire
It is the consistency with which the questionnaire measures a concept or construct.
What is the validity of a questionnaire
It is the extent to which the questionnaire measures what it claims to measure
What is alternate forms reliability
The correlation between 2 equivalent forms of the same questionnaire
Define concurrent validity
The accuracy with which a questionnaire can identify current behavior
Define consistency
The constancy with which a questionnaire measures
What is construct validity
The extent to which the questionnaire measures the construct it’s supposed to measure
Define content validity
Whether the items in the questionnaire covers a representative sample of content domain
What is correlation
The relationship between 2 variables
Define equivalence
Having equal value function etc
What is predictive validity
The accuracy with which a questionnaire can predict future behavior
Define split half reliability
The correlation between 2 equivalent halves of the same questionnaire
Define stability
Remains unchanged over time
What is test retested reliability
The correlation between 2 administrations of the same questionnaire
