The Medical Technology Licensure Exam

questions are based on the 4th Year Internship)

Qualifications for Examination
Every applicant for the examination shall have the following qualifications
- A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Medical
Technology/BSMLS/Bachelor of Science in Public Health from a PRC-accredited educational institution - At least 18 years old
- Filipino citizen
- A person of good moral character
- Must not have been convicted of a crime involving
moral turpitude - Be able to complete the 12-month intership in any CHED-accredited laboratory
Application Requirements
● NSO/PSA Birth Certificate
● NSO/PSA Marriage Contract (for married female)
● Transcript of Records with scanned picture and
remarks “For Board Examination Purposes”
▪︎should be requested ASAP
▪︎ could be used for (1) employment, (2) personal record, or (3) Board Examination
● Examination Fee of Php 900.00
▪︎paid at the PRC office
▪︎ For ASCPI: 10 years for 10k-13k pesos
● Certificate of Refresher Course Completion from a
school of medical technology recognized or
accredited by CHED-FTB
▪︎ only required if the taker has failed the board
exam 3 times
● ASCPI
▪︎ exam to take to practice profession abroad
Schedule of Examination
Previous schedule
- The MTLE happens twice a year, each within specific schedules depending on the PRC and the Board of Medical Technology
- Exam is usually administered during March and August.

○ 3 subjects per day
○ 2 hours per subject
○ 100 items per subject
○ 1 hour break
Scope of Examination
- Clinical Chemistry — 20%
- Microbiology & Parasitology —20%
- Hematology — 20%
- Blood Banking & Serology — 20%
- Clinical Microscopy (Urinalysis and Other
Body Fluids) — 10% - Histopathologic Techniques, Cytotechnology, MT Laws, Related law and its Implementing Rules, and the Code of Ethics — 10%
