lesson 4 Flashcards
This chapter is an overview of the research discussing issues that lead to the conceptualization of the problem.
The Problem and its Background
purpose for pursuing the study
rationale
why the researcher does it (intention)
Context
It establishes the : (3)
- Rationale
2.Context
3.General direction of the study
Start globally to locally; start
with big picture down to
specific context.
Inverted Pyramid Approach
putting the problem into context
Contextualizing
addressing the problem
Resolving
pointing out the gap in knowledge
Conceptualizing
Refers to the set of interrelated concepts, definitions and propositions
that present a systematic view of phenomena by specifying relation
among variables.
Theoretical Framework
A collection of existing theories, models and frameworks that provide
a foundation of core knowledge.
Theoretical Framework
Researcher’s idea on how the research problem will be explored.
Conceptual Framework
There should be a general statement of the main problem followed by
the specific questions or sub-problems into which the main problem
is broken up.
Statement of the problem
The statement of the problem should be specific, clearly and simply
stated, and logically arranged according to the research paradigm.
Statement of the problem
Describes what ideas are suggested as plausible explanations for the problem, situation, or condition and will be proved to be correct or incorrect by the research
Hypothesis
states that there is no evidence of the effect, of interaction, of relationships, and of difference.
null hypothesis
