What is a suicide threat?
An indication that the person can’t make up their mind but is thinking about suicide
What is a suicide attempt?
Any actions taken by the individual toward himself that will lead to death if not interrupted
What is a suicide gesture?
A cry for help
The individual carefully thinks out the ways in which he may be rescued from his suicide attempt
What are the most frequent methods of harm used in suicide gestures?
Superficial cutting of wrists and a single drug overdose
What is a behavior sign?
he person’s actions or behaviors may suddenly change greatly
What is Crisis?
This is the point at which the usual problem solving or decision making methods are no longer adequate
At this point the person may be so overwhelmed that he selects suicide as the only way to solve his problems
