Lesson 3 - IT & Computing Basics Cheat Sheet - Hardware Flashcards
What is Peropherals?
External devices that connect to a computer, providing additional functionality such as input, output, storage, or networking capabilities (printers, keyboards, mice, etc)
What is CPU (Central Processing Unit)?
The primary component of a computer that performs most of the processing inside the computer.
It interprets and executes
instructions from the computer’s hardware and software.
What is RAM (Random Access Memory)?
A type of computer memory that stores data temporarily, allowing quick access by the CPU.
It holds the information that the computer is currently using, enabling fast processing.
When the computer is turned off, the data in RAM is erased.
What is an SSD (Solid State Drive)?
A storage device that uses flash memory to store data.
Unlike traditional hard drives, it has no moving parts, resulting in faster access and retrieval of data, increased durability, and quieter operation.
What is a Motherboard?
The main circuit board in a computer that connects all the different parts, like the CPU, RAM, and storage, allowing them to communicate with each other.
