Alcoholic and Drug Policy 1
1) No alcoholic beverages may be purchased using chapter, pledge class or fraternity funds; including slush funds
2) No alcohol shall be present at any pledge program
3) No “drinking games” shall be permitted
Alcohol and Drug Policy 2
4) No member of pledge shall purchase alcohol for a minor
5) No possession or use of a common source container at events or gatherings
6) No alcohol, regardless of age of attendees, at pledge program events or gatherings
7) No possession, sale or use of illegal drugs or controlled substances
Fire and Health Safety Policy
All premises used for Alpha Kappa Psi operations must meet local fire/health codes and standards as well as applicable federal, state, county, and municipal laws
Hazing policy
Prohibits:
- Condoning or conducting hazing activities
- Pre-initiation activities on the day of Court of Honor or other rituals
- Initiation that causes physical/mental fatigue
- Verbal abuse of individual that involves yelling/screaming and use of profanity
Sexual Harassment Policy
- No unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other sexually offensive verbal or physical contact is permitted
- Fraternity will not tolerate or condone any form of sexually abusive behavior
Publication of Inappropriate Material
Members are prohibited from producing, publishing, and/or distributing any material that is deemed harmful to the good name and reputation of the Fraternity
Governing Documents: Constitution and Statutory Code
Two sets of laws storied in one document that governs fraternity
- Constitution - outlines structure of the fraternity and governing bodies
- Statutory Code - outlines chapter structures, discipline, and financial policies
Governing Documents: Board of Directors Statement of Policy
- Outlines policies set by Fraternity Board of Directors
- ex: financial policies, chapter minimum standards, discipline
Governing Documents: The Ritual of Alpha Kappa Psi
- Necessary rituals for student and alumni chapters
- New Rituals cannot be added nor old rituals deleted
- Binds brothers regardless of chapters/experience
Governing Documents: Chapter Bylaws
- Each chapter writes its own bylaws to reflect local chapter operations
- Incorporate policies from Constitution and Statutory Code, BOD Statement of Policy, and The Ritual of Alpha Kappa Psi
- Changes require ⅔ of chapter votes
Minimum Chapter Standards
1) Initiate at least 10 new student members
2) Year-end chapter size of at least 20 members
3) Conduct at least 6 professional events
4) Each chapter member must attend at least 2 professional events
5) Attend at least 1 fraternity-sponsored event
6) Attend regional officer training
7) Have a current balance on December 31
8) Have a current balance on June 30
9) Follow the minimum Pledge Education Program (PEP) standards
10) Hold two initiations per year
