Lesson 3 Flashcards
Obligate aerobic
Obligate anaerobic
Facultative anaerobic
Aerotolerant anaerobic
Obligate aerobic
Dies without O2
Obligate anaerobic
Dies with O2
Facultative anaerobic
Can survive in both cases
And create energy
Aerotolerant anaerobic
Can survive in both cases
Doesn’t create energy when O2 is present
Classification of Bacteria growth (temperatures)
Psychrophiles 10C° (-10-20C°) Psychrotrophs 20C° (-10-35C°) Mesophiles 35C° (15-40C°) Thermophiles 60C° (40-80C°) Extreme Thermophile 90C° (70-100C°)
T.pallidum :-
Spirochete bacteria
Causes Syphilis
painless sore in Sexual organs, Oral, anal
antibiotics
Bor. burgdorferi :-
Spirochete bacteria
Causes Lyme disease
red rash
L. interrogans :-
Gram - obligate aerobe spirochete Causes Leptospirosis High fever. Headache. Chills. Muscle aches. Vomiting. Jaundice (yellow skin and eyes) Red eyes. Abdominal pain.
Actinobacteria:-
Germ + facultatively anaerobic
Causes Actinomycosis
Corynebacterium:-
Garm + bacilli facultatively anaerobic
Causes Diphtheria
difficulty breathing, heart failure, paralysis, and even death.
Mycobacterium:-
bacilli
Causes tuberculosis
The bacteria usually attack the lungs, but they can also damage other parts of the body
A cough that lasts more than three weeks.
Loss of appetite and unintentional weight loss.
Fever.
Chills.
Night sweats.
combination of TB drugs.
Nocardia
Germ + bacilli
Causes Nocardiosis
affect the lungs, brain, and skin
begin as pulmonary infections that develop into lung abscesses. Symptoms may includechest pain, cough, bloody sputum, sweats, chills, weakness, lack of appetite, weight loss and difficult or labored breathing. Nocardiosis symptoms are similar to those ofpneumoniaand tuberculosis
chlamydia trachomatis:-
Germ - anaerobic trachomatis
Causes Chlamydia infarction
Usually it doesn’t cause any symptoms and can be easily treated with antibiotics
pain when urinating.
white, cloudy or watery discharge from the tip of the penis.
burning or itching in the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body)
pain in the testicles.
Mycoplasma pneumonia :-
Germ - can change their shape, grows under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Causes :- pneumonia fever. dry cough. headache. chills. heavy sweating. scratchy sore throat. sore trachea sore chest.
Rickettsiaceae:-
Gram - aerobic bacilli
Causes Rickettsial disease
Fever, headache, confusion, aching muscles, gastrointestinal symptoms.
Rashfrom day 2–3, consisting of of small red blotches on wrists and ankles that become widespread and sometimes blister.
