Rome and Carthage fought a war, and through the war, Rome gained control of North Africa, Spain, Sicily, Macedonia, and Greece.
What happened during the third period of expansion?
Rome took control of Asia Minor, Syria, and Egypt. Roman generals attempted to seize power, but Ceasaer Augustus seized power.
What happened during the fourth period of expansion?
Began with the start of the Roman Empire. Caesar Augustus pushed borders to natural boundaries. Rome stretched from the island of Britan to the Black Sea
What was Rome and Carthage fighting over? What was the result?
Control of Sicily, Spain, North Africa, and the Italian peninsula. Rome won.
How did Rome’s expansion affect the plebians?
More had to serve in the army, which made them unhappy.
Who was Julius Caesar? Why was he eventually killed and what happened after his death?
Julius Caesar was a dictator of Rome. He was killed because certain senators thought he was becoming too powerful. His death sparked the Punic wars.
