What were the differences between Patricians and Plebians?
Patricians had more power and wealth, and plebians were poorer and worked for the patricians
Explain how plebians went from little power to shared power to shared power with the patricians in the Republic
The patricians had lots of power but the Plebians had none. The plebians were mad so they decided to revolt. They stopped listening to the patricians’ wishes and got equal power.
What were the 12 Tables? Why were they so important? Why was it necessary for laws to be written down?
The 12 tables were a set of laws inscribed on 12 tables made of bronze. They were important so all citizens could be treated equally.
Why were plebians unhappy when the Roman Republic FIRST started?
Plebians were unhappy with the way society was set up because they got a lot less wealth and political power.
Who were the consuls and what types of jobs did they do?
The consuls were a group of people responsible for putting decrees of the Senate into effect.
How did senators get their jobs? How long did they serve?
Senators were appointed by consuls, and they served for life
Who were the tribunes and what did they do?
The tribunes were essentially a group of commanders who command bodyguards.
How did the Conflict of the Orders help the plebians?
Their civil rights were restored fully
What are the differences between a democracy and a republic? Was Rome a democracy or a Republic?
In a democracy, power is in the hands of the people. In a Republic, it is in the hands of individual citizens. Rome was a Republic.
