Lesson 2 - The Plant Cell Flashcards
Plant Cell
are the cell present in plants
Are the fundamental unit of life
Cells
Cells
smallest unit of life, chemical reactions necessary for the maintenance and reproduction of life take place
Function of cell
Cell metabolism and energy use, synthesis of molecules, communication, reproduction and inheritance
Parts of cell
Cell wall, cell membrane, cytoplasm, vacuole, nucleus, nucleolus, ribosomes, perixosome, golgi apparatus, rough endoplasmic reticulum, soft endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, chloroplast
Function of cell wall
a rigid, protective layer surrounding the plasma membrane of plant cell
Cytoplasm function
where the cell organelles are, contains the component of the cell
Vacuole function
membrane-bound structure that fills much of the plant cell
Nucleus function
storehouse of the cell’s DNA
R endoplasmic reticulum function
transports the protein
S endoplasmic reticulum function
building, storing, and transports lipids
Mitochondria function
powerhouse of the cell, perform cell respiration
Ribosome function
build proteins
Cell membrane function
separates the cell’s content from the external environment
Golgi Apparatus function
receive substances that came from the endoplasmic reticula
Chloroplast function
perform photosynthesis
Peroxisomes function
metabolize fatty acid and assist in photorespiration
Nucleolus function
RNA processing
Part that were observed in Allium Cepa, Rhoeo Discolor, Hydrilla leaves
Cell wall, nucleus, cytoplasm/vacuole
Shape of the cells of onion found in its epidermal cell, and the dominant pigment
Spindle and dark yellow to mustard
Plastid present in the upper epidermis of bangka bangkaan and its pigment
Chloroplast and green
Plastid present in the lower epidermis of bangka bangkaan and its pigment
Chloroplast, which produce anthocyanins that is responsible for the purple color
Cytoplasmic streaming/cyclosis
streaming movement within the cell
Why does hydrilla shows clear movement in the cell
because its chloroplast are very prominent and exhibit rapid and visible movement making it easier to observe
