LESSON 2 (Communication models) Flashcards
What are the standard models of communication?
LINEAR MODEL, INTERACTIVE MODEL AND TRANSACTIONAL MODEL
A simple one-way process where information flows directly from a sender to receiver.
LINEAR MODEL
A two-way process wherein participants alternate roles as sender and reciver.
INTERACTIVE MODEL
A dynamic and complex model that recognizes communication as a simultaenous process where participants continously exchange roles as as sender a receiver.
TRANSACTIONAL MODEL
What are the models under the Linear Model?
LASWELL’S MODEL, ARISTOTLE’S MODEL, BERLO’S SMCR MODEL. SHANNON-WEAVER MODEL, WILLBUR SCHRAMM’S MODEL.
A linear model of communication that focuses on the process of mass communication.
LASWELL’S MODEL
Communication flows in one direction from the speaker to the audience.
ARISTOTLE’S MODEL
What are the 3 components of the Aristotle’s model?
ETHOS, PATHOS AND LOGOS
To persuade
ETHOS
To evoke strong emotions
PATHOS
A logical appeal of a message
LOGOS
Often depicted as a circular diagram
BERLO’S SMCR MODEL
SMCR means?
S- SOURCE
M- MESSAGE
C- CHANNEL
R- RECEIVER
It is referred to as the mathematical theory of communication. A linear model that focuses on the technical aspects of communication.
SHANNON-WEAVER’S MODEL
Visualized as a circular diagram emphasizing the interactive nature of communication.
WILLBUR SCHRAMMS’ MODEL
