Q

What answer might you give to a person who believed that God needed angels to compliment His person?

A

God does not need anything to compliment his beings, for he is perfect and complete.
Acts 17:24-25
So one would be arrogant to assume that he, a finite person, could add anything to God who is infinite.

19
Q

What does the Bible reveal about the destiny of holy angels?

A

Bible does not deal with this matter directly, but it does mention angels in the New Jerusalem. From this, we conclude that angels will exist and serve God eternally

20
Q

Purpose of Satan

A
  • Purpose of evil angels is to oppose God’s people, His work on earth, and His ultimate plan
  • Satan and his minions use many deceitful tricks against God’s people to cause them to fall
  • Jesus came to earth to destroy the works of the devil and to liberate God’s people from their bondage to the fear of death.
21
Q

The limitation of presence as it relates to Satan means that he

A

Cannot be everywhere at the same time

22
Q

The limitations of Satan’s power means that he

A

Exercises power within limits set by God

23
Q

The limitation of Satan’s knowledge indicates that

A

He does not know our specific thoughts, but he knows human nature and susceptibilities

24
Q

Based on the experience of Job, support the following statement: Sickness on rare occasions may come from demonic activity, but not always

A

Even though Satan afflicted Job with sickness, he could not do this without God’s permission. We should also state that some sicknesses result simply from living in a fallen world, and other sicknesses result from natural causes

25
Q

Why can Christians not be demon possessed?

A

The believer’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (Ro. 8:9). Since God and devil cannot share the same dwelling place, it is impossible for the believer to be demon possessed.

26
Q

Hindering people from accepting Christ as savior

A

Demonic activity – opposition

27
Q

Assaulting one’s mind, as in Christ’s 40 day experience in the wilderness

A

Demonic activity – temptation

28
Q

Attacking one’s physical body

A

Demonic activity – affliction

29
Q

Controlling one’s life from the inside

A

Demonic activity – possession

30
Q

What is the significance of the activities of evil angels?

A

Satan and his angels engage in a wide variety of activities to defeat God’s purpose. These activities indicate that satanic forces attack at many levels in order to overcome us

31
Q

The occultic describes a variety of

A

mysterious practices in the spiritual world

32
Q

Three categories of occultic practices are

A

magic
spiritism
fortune-telling

33
Q

Astrology is the belief that

A

positions of different plants and groups of stars determine a person’s future

34
Q

The Bible forbids all occultic practices because

A

they represent a betrayal of one’s trust in God

35
Q

Describe the source and nature of occultic practices

A

Satan is the source of occultic practices. Some may seem to be harmless, they represent an attempt to gain knowledge that God has not revealed, as well as to gain it through forbidden sources. Since they are satanic, the believer must avoid all of them

36
Q

According to the biblical record, state the destiny of evil angels

A

Satan and his angels are destined for eternal confinement. While they will be free a while longer, their fate is already settled

37
Q

Some people teach that sin in the life of a believer is the result of demon possession. Explain briefly why this teaching is erroneous. Use appropriate Scripture references in your answer

A

Since the Word shows clearly that the believer’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1Cor. 6:19) we know that whatever sins a Christian commits are not the result of satanic control. As we explore the matter of the believer’s spiritual development, we see that a person moves from spiritual infancy toward maturity (Gal. 5:16-25,Hebrews 5:11-6:3) . As believers progress, they should surrender control of their lives to Christ, but this is a lifelong process. On occasion, they may commit sinful acts. Paul refers to these sins as acts of sinful nature or works of the flesh. Gal 5:19. While John trust that the sinful acts will not be habitual in one’s life, he says, “if anybody sins, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense. 1 John 1:9. As we put off the sinful nature with its deceitful desires, put on the new self and surrender to the Holy Spirits control in our lives Eph. 4:22-24 we become progressively more Christlike and less susceptible to works of the sinful nature.
